Full Version: Astonishing mock!

Astonishment
1. Detroit Lions: Matthew Stafford, QB, Georgia
This is not the best option for the Lions (or even the best QB), but it’s the Lions so he is their choice.

2. St. Louis Rams: Eugene Monroe, LT, Virginia
Could be the worst kept secret of the draft that the Rams will take a Tackle… but which one?

3. Kansas City Chiefs: Jason Smith, LT, Baylor
There has been a lot of speculation that Curry would go here, and more recently that Tyson Jackson would be the pick. Don’t believe any of it, the Rams will take whichever takle it left

4. Seattle Seahawks: Aaron Curry, LB, Wake Forest
While Sanchez and Crabtree are tempting the Seahawks can’t pass up the best player in the draft.

5. Cleveland Browns: Mark Sanchez, QB, USC
Quinn is on the way out, and whoever trades for him will give up way too much for an at best marginal QB.

6. Cincinnati Bengals: Andre Smith, OT, Alabama
The Bengals have no problem taking questionable character guys, and they need a LT. Every other team ahead of them (outside of Seattle) will wonder why they passed on Smith in a few years.

7. Oakland Raiders: Jeremy Maclin, WR, Missouri
This has been rumored by everyone, but it just makes too much sense. Al Davis get’s another bust.

8. Jacksonville Jaguars: B.J. Raji, DT, Boston College
They have come out and said they will not take a WR in the first round, but even if it is a smoke screen they can’t pass up on the bit Guy in the middle of their defense.

9. Green Bay Packers: Tyson Jackson, DE, LSU
While everyone thinks Ted will have to take Crabtree if he is here, Jackson will not only be the pick if he lasts this long, but he will be the better player and fits a huge hole.

10. San Francisco: Michael Crabtree, WR, Texas Tech
Finally the 49ers get their receiver to fill the shoes of ...J.J. Stokes?

11. Buffalo Bills: Aaron Maybin, DE, Penn State
The need the outside rusher and Maybin has been rising while Orakpo has been sliding a bit.

12. Denver Broncos: Brian Orakpo, DE, Texas
With the switch to the 3-4, the 2 players off the board that they wanted (Jackson and Raji) they go for their OLB of the future.

13. Washington Redskins: Darrius Heyward-Bay, WR, Maryland
After failing to get Sanchez, the Redskins try to placate Campbell

14. New Orleans Saints: Chris “Beanie” Wells, RB, Ohio State
The Saints lost the thunder to their lighting, and now they get that thunder back.

15. Houston Texans: Robert Ayers, DE, Tennessee
They Texans try to find their compliment to Mario.

16. San Diego Chargers: Malcolm Jenkins, CB, Ohio State
Here is more talent for that San Diego defense.

17. New York Jets: Josh Freeman, QB, Kansas State
Neither the Jets or Washington could get Sanchez, so the Jets try out Freeman to see if he fits.

18. Denver Broncos: Vontae Davis, CB, Illinios
With the only other first round QB going off the board one pick earlier the Broncos will try to win with Orton and defense...let Chicago know if it will work.

19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Michael Oher, OT, Mississippi
They need help in a few areas, but since Oher is still here he’s the pick.

20. Detroit Lions: Knowshon Moreno, HB, Georgia
Detroit seems to have a thing for versital Backs (Jones and Calhoun), so now they think they have the reincarnated Dallas trinity of the 90’s.

21. Philadelphia Eagles: Percy Harvin, WR, Florida
Another speedy WR for McNabb...hey it worked last year.

22. Minnesota Vikings: Brandon Pettigrew, TE, Oklahoma State
Sage needs another option out side of All-Day, and Pettigrew is a pretty nice security blanket.

23. New England Patriots: Darius Butler, CB, Connecticut
The Pats need corner help, and Butler should fit what they need very well.

24. Atlanta Falcons: Eben Britton, OT, Arizona
When you get a franchise QB, you get him some protection. Easy enough.

25. Miami Dolphins: Brian Cushing, OLB, USC
Cushing should force a Roth position change, and will be versatile enough for Parcells.

26. Baltimore Ravens: Rey Maualuga, ILB USC
Ray and Rey...watch out!

27. Indianapolis Colts: Peria Jerry, DT, Mississippi
Exactly what they look for in their DT’s.

28. Philadelphia Eagles: Clay Matthews, OLB, USC
Should be a hit in Phili with his style of play.

29. New York Giants: Darius Butler, CB, Connecticut
They like young corners and here is another one.

30. Tennessee Titans: Ziggy Hood, DT, Missouri
Need another big body to replace the one they lost.

31. Arizona Cardinals: Chris “Beanie” Wells, RB, Ohio State
A late riser to give the Cards another weapon.

32. Pittsburgh Steelers: Louis Delmus, S, Western Michigan
The Steelers get a steel and a great bookend to the other safety...what’s his name?

Packers Picks:
1(9). Tyson Jackson, DE, LSU
See above

2(41). Everette Brown, DE/OLB, Florida State
Has great potential to be exactly what the Packers need outside. He is tumbling down the board and his slide would be the Packers fortune.

3a(73). Will Beatty, OT, Connecticut
A potential filled tackle who could be a cornerstone LT for years to come with the right coaching.

3b(83). Lardarius Webb, S/CB, Nicholls St.
Has potential to start for the Packers at either safety or corner in the next couple years. He was a college safety but has all the ability to play corner in the NFL.

4(109). Mike Goodson, RB, Texas A&M
Would be the ideal change of pace back, and wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for some character questions. At this point in the draft he might be worth the risk.

5(145). Zack Potter, DE, Nebraska
Here is another 3-4 DE to provide some depth.

6a(182). Marico Mitchell, WR, Nevada
Ted has to take a WR and here he gives Rodgers a true jump ball threat.

6b(187). Frantz Joseph, ILB, Florida Atlantic
Could challenge for a backup spot, and would be a great special teamer.

7(218). Will Davis, DE/OLB, Illinois
I am not completely sure he could stand up but at this point if he can make the team it is gravy.

How many Beanie Wells are in this draft?

I think the Packers should take Beanie Wells at 109, 182 and maybe again at 187 if that one can play NT.

Wow, your sarcasm is wonderful and adds so much flavor. This was the wrong version, I had caught that mistake and the correct pick for the Cards was Donald Brown out of Uconn. So you can keep the multiple Beanie's for your personal fantasies!

Brown in the second and Beatty in the third...you're right, I'm truly astonished!

I know that a few teams have Brown as low as an early 3rd round pick and Beatty as a late 2nd early 3rd. I think teams will start reaching for Brown in the early 2nd because so many teams are switching to the 3-4. I am not entirely sure he will last 9 picks in the 2nd but it should not be very surprising when he makes it through the 1st round unpicked. As for Beatty, he is probably the biggest reach (Along with Jackson since it looks like he is for sure going 3rd to KC) but it is right in line with where teams have him ranked. It is just a matter of a team reaching to take him earlier. Because he is not an immediate player (he needs some development) I have him slipping to the pack a few picks.

I am not sure this is as astonishing as you think, but we will see!
luv that team
If the Pack takes Jackson at 9, does that tell us how they feel about Harrell's chances of ever being healthy enough to play on a regular basis. Or am I reading too much into this selection.

I think its more of him probably being the best player available left on the board.

While I can't brag about my picks because the beginning broke very different than I expected so my mock was pretty crappy. I will note that Brown would have been there had the Packers kept the pick and Beatty was very close to falling to the 3rd (28th pick in the 2nd). Not as astonishing as some must have thought wink.gif
