Post your top 9 for the Packers to draft.
Unless he trades back, we can use our lists to see who we would have taken. Therefore, when it is the Packers pick, the Packers would select (if you were the GM) the highest ranked player on your list. I always see these posts where people say, 'well I really liked player XXX when he came out' well, yes you did. But you also posted about 12 other guys you liked who all bombed.
Here we go:
1 Justin Smith - OT our biggest need
2 Eugene Monroe
3 Aaron Curry - I team him up with Hawk inside and Barnett is gone
4 BJ Raji - NT is our 2nd biggest need
5 Crabtree Our deepest position just got even deeper
6 M. Oher
7 Malcolm Jenkins - not a need (this year) but soon.
8 Tyson Jackson - Heard someone on NFL radio say he will be a top 5 pick.
9 Knowshow Moreno - not a need but could add another dimension to an already good offense
No OLBs. I think we will find a serviceable one already on our roster and a good prospect in the 2nd round. Only 1 DE - I don't think the position is a glaring weakness and it could turn out to be an area of strength without any additions. There are also some good prospects available in the 2nd round. Moreno, Wells, Jackson, Maybin, and Orakpo were all very close for the #8 and #9 picks.
As you can see - I am a BPA kind of guy. I doubt Curry is there at #9 and would hate to replace Barnett, but with the top 2 OTs gone, I think that pick improves the Packers the most.
After Oher at 6, I start to look at trading down. I would only go back 8 spots at the most and only for a 2nd rounder. I would go back up to 3 picks for a 3rd rounder.
I expect Stafford and Sanchez to go in the top 9, and perhaps Macklin. Therefore, we should end up with one of my top 6.

1. Eugene Monroe OT, Virginia
2. Jason Smith OT, Baylor
3. Aaron Maybin LB, Penn State

5. Malcolm Jenkins CB, Ohio State
6. Jeremy Maclin WR, MIZZOU (Crabtree sucks)
7. Michael Oher OT, Ole Miss

9. Tyson Jackson DE, LSU
Left out Raji because his character concerns, concern me and I think that we can get a NT later.

top 9 for packers
1. Jason Smith, OT
2. Eugene Monroe, OT
3. Aaron Curry, LB
4. BJ Raji, DT
5. Clay Matthews, LB
6. Tyson Jackson, DE
7. Michael Oher, OT
8. Malcolm Jenkins, DB
9. Brandon Pettigrew, TE
i'm not sold on orakpo or maybin as OLBs so i would stay safe at #9. pettigrew is a reach but i put him in at 9 because the packers really need an upgrade at TE.

First off , no quarterbacks.
1) Aaron Curry LB - true leader
2) Eugene Monroe LT
3) Knowshon Moreno RB -not truly a need but a better runner and MUCH better receiver out of the backfield.
4) Jason Smith LT
5) Malcom Jenkins CB
6) Tyson Jackson DE
7) Michael Crabtree WR - Again, not a need. Driver is getting older and Jennings is soon to be UFA. Too explosive to pass up.
8) Aaron Maybin - risk/reward.
9) Michael Oher LT
I left Raji off the list for two reasons:
1) Don't want to pay 1st round bonus / salary to a rotational player.
2) Listened to an interview with him on ESPN radio a few weeks ago. He stated he would much prefer to play in a 4/3 as opposed to a 3/4. Not that I blame him.........bottom line - would he be happy here? Don't need a high priced mal-content. If we were to stick with a 4/3 and put him on the field next to Pickett, he would be my #2 choice.

Interesting lists. The variety of views goes to show that the Packers can go in so many directions at #9.

At #9:
1.) Jason Smith - Not a great year for anyone, but he's the most athletic of the bunch, hard worker and very good pass blocker. GB is a passing team and that's not going to change soon.
2.) Malcom Jenkins - the next few on my list change in order by the minute. My gut says he's a solid guy and he's going to be a good player. Unlike the next two on my list he's a self-starter and motivated guy. Unlike the guy after those two he's a top player at a premium position with real game changing skills.
3.) Andre Smith - Just watch the man play, that's all. Contradicts a bit what I said about Jason Smith, but at the worst he's a RT for the next decade, at the best he's a do-it-all All-Pro LT. Unlike J. Smith this guy can push around even well-rounded DEs like Jared Allen. He may struggle with technique against speed rushers but can that be taught?
4.) Michael Oher - Similar to A. Smith. Same downsides, but I think his feet look quicker than Andre Smith's. Maybe not as physical, but can handle the LT spot.
5.) Tyson Jackson - Not pretty but fills a need big time and should be solid there for a long time. Don't look for him to put up big numbers - look for the LBs playing behind him to put up big numbers and you'll see his value. May be a reach at #9 skill wise but sometimes you need to bite that bullet to help your team.
After these guys I'd trade down. Yes, that includes in Curry is available, or Crabtree or Monroe or Raji. I think if one of those guys falls we can get a boatload in return for the pick and still get someone good, perhaps even one of the guys above.
Curry is a good LB but he's not special. Pick him and who do you cut - Barnett or Hawk? He's not an outside LB in the 3-4. Not sold on Monroe either. He hasn't been picked apart as much as some other prospects and not as built up either. I wonder why. Crabtree and Raji would be tough to pass up, but someone might be willing to trade a small part of the farm for one of them.
6.) Alex Mack - Instant upgrade for the center of our line. When is the last time we ran up the middle with much success? When we had Mike Flanagan maybe? Just a real solid player. I've said it before, but when all is said and done I have a feeling he's going to be a Logan Mankins type pick - after a year or so everyone drafting in the 20's is going to kick themselves for passing on such a solid player.
7.) Connor Barwin - like his pass rush moves better than Orakpo or Brown or Maybin. Seems like a TT pick as well - played TE for a couple years, moved to OLB, excelled there. Will do whatever, and I really like his potential at OLB.
8.) Clint Sintim - See above, minus the playing TE thing.
9.) Larry English - Similar to 7 and 8. He's a good player on tape. My gut says he'll need a bit more seasoning than the others
So those are my nine. If you break it down I see value at OT relatively high and value at OLB in the late first/ early second, so if I were Ted I'd try to target that part of the draft. If he can finagle 3 picks in the top 45ish picks I think we'll come away with some really good players.

Why did TT bother drafting any one when he has shown that he is not a serious GM since he did not sign any big name free agents??? Plus I doubt that TT's board will match that of that brilliant football genius Mel Kiper…
Oh, this isn’t what you meant when you said to pre-2nd guess Ted Thompson??? my bad…

My top 9 players for Green Bay are:
1. Aaron Curry
2. Jason Smith
3. Eugene Monore
4. Malcolm Jenkins
5. Tyson Jackson
6. Bj Raji
7. Brian Orakpo
8. Michael Oher
9. Knowshon Moreno
I really think Green Bay needs to play it safe and get a solid player that could turn out to be a speical player. Now I am one of the biggest fans of trying tog et an impact player in the top ten but at the same time I want to hit on my first rounders, I mean I would rather be drafting nothing but AJ Hawks in the the first rather than rolling the dice. So my top five reflects that all solid players. Once you get to Raji I think you start getting into an area where you cant feel 100% sure about your selection. Raji- is he a true fit at NT, are there truly character concerns. Orakpo- can he play OLB, is he just another player in the long line of players that look like tarzan but plays like jane, and injuries have been a problem. Oher- consistence, also is his heart truly into the game, are there learning concerns there. Moreno- average measurables, my not be an every down back and if not he shouldnt be in the top ten, also could we take a player that really doesnt fit a need.
Personally come draft day I think it will be between Jenkins, Jackson, Raji, Orakpo and Oher. And with it likel Orakpo and Raji maybe gone I get a feeling that its coming down to a three horse race in Jenkins, Jackson and Oher.

Picking nits is a noble task that someone must do -- or we would have a lice epidemic
You are correct.
I love the line. However, when I used to say in the immortal words of Emily Litella... but hardly any one knew what I was talking it about. However, when I substituted another Gilda Radner character, Roseanna Roseannadana, almost everyone got the referrence.
Great job with the triva Packergeist, Gilda
For clarities sake, like Emily Litella, Roseanna Roseannadanna's was part of the Saturday Night Live Weekend Update segments with Chevy Chase and Jane Curtin.
Roseanna would read a letter about some current social issue, to which Roseannadanna would usually reply,
"... you sure do ask a lot of stupid questions for a guy from New Jersey!" Then she would sometimes make a derogatory comment about New Jersey. She would then answer the questions invariably digressing, launching into a lengthy anecdote with no relevance to the topic at hand, frequently having to do with an encounter Roseannadanna had had with a celebrity followed by Roseannadanna's going into graphic details about bodily functions or personal hygiene; with these details, she would use a famous celebrity as an example and say that she would ask these celebrities,
"What are ya tryin' to do, make me sick?!"Eventually, Jane Curtin would interrupt, stating,
"Roseanne, you're making me sick". Curtin would then ask her what her comments had to do with the question. Roseannadanna's (famous to trivia lovers) response was,
"Well, Jane, it just goes to show you, it's always something," wrap up her comments by sharing a piece of advice passed down from a family member like: her father or Nana Roseannadanna or Aunt Pollyanna Roseannadanna or her "musically happening cousin, Carlos Santana Roseannadanna"...

The short list of how I would rate the "wants" for the pack. The short list is picks 4 through 8. Those are the guys I think have a chance at being there at 9 that the pack would pick. Anyone picked by the pack that is not listed in picks 4 through 8 will suprise me.
1. Eugene Monroe
2. Jason Smith
3. Curry
4. Tyson Jackson
5. BJ Raji
6. Oher
7. Jenkins
8. Orakpo
9. Brown or Maybin could possibly go here but I can't see either on their board at this point.

Yes I would. I wouldn't be disappointed at all as I think he's better than Oher. I just don't see TT taking him at 9. If he does fine by me. His "minor" judgement errors don't bother me at all.
