For the Packers that means:

1) Andre Smith/OT/Alabama
- Has some question marks but if you put on the tape the guy can play
2) Clint Sintim/OLB/Virginia
- Pure pass rusher that has everything you look for in a 34 OLB
3) Jason Williams/OLB/Western Illinois
- Rising talent with the raw ability to be very good
3) (f/NYJ) Gerald Cadogan/OT/Penn St.
- Solid technician who could either play inside or at RT
4) Ramses Barden/WR/Cal-Poly
- Huge target who will help improve our redzone offense
5) Tony Fiammetta/FB/Syracuse
- Hard hitting FB who is raw but has a lot of talent
6) Terrance Knighton/NT/Temple
- Big body NT who is strong at the POA
6) (f/NO) Devin Moore/RB/Wyoming
- Very speedy back who also brings ability in the return game
7) Everette Pedescleaux/DE/Northern Iowa
- Big athletic End who has potential to be very good

Bravo! Kudos. Personally I've never been able to compile more than 3 rounds. I tip my hat to you.

The only way to do a true projection is to do all the picks. You can't just sit down and pick the 10 guys the Packers might take w/o figuring how all the other dominos fall in front of them.

While I like to two early picks at OT I don't see them spending two high picks on linebackers, I think its already a numbers crunch, unless someone on the current roster is getting traded. Love the Barden pick.
NeuBrew
I really applaud the effort and like the Packers' draft, but I think the value board you are using is all over the map. It's a nearly impossible task though, so I give you credit.
dictator of logic
LTFF,

I have not yet gone through the entire draft you posted (I may later if I have a chance), but I did quickly scan it for one of my favorite players who seems to be missing. Do you feel that Nate Davis QB Ball State is not a draft-worthy prospect? I really like Davis, and I actually have him ranked as my #3 QB in this draft. Early in the year I had him as a possible 1st round pick, but he struggled down the stretch (specifically the last 2 games) which hurt his stock. Was his omission an oversight, or do you really think guys like Mike Reilly and Hunter Cantwell are better NFL prospects than Davis? I'm just curious because I think you have demonstrated a great deal of knowlege regarding draft prospects, and Davis happens to be a guy I really like despite his somewhat negative standing among various draftniks.
Booter145
I don't care who got what player that's a lot of effort.
OneTwoSixFive
Great effort in trying to slot in every teams choices.

I fully understand your pick at #9. I'm not certain I agree with it completely, but it is a roll of the dice to try at greatness.

I do not understand the thinking of two OLBs after that. We have so many potential OLBs already, that this seems counter-productive - one I understand, but not two this early. I'd prefer either NT Ron Brace or DE Jarron Gilbert at #41. Alternatively, if you wish to keep Sintim, you could go OT Cadogan at #73 and DE/NT Dorrell Scott at 83. Following this scenario, you could take advantage of only having taken one OLB so far, by snapping up Veikune who is still on the board in round four when we draft.

Thanks guys! Yeah putting together 7 rounds is like a marathon so some guys get left out. For example, I got the through the entire thing and realized that Clay Matthews hadn't been picked anywhere. That took some retooling and switching guys around. Once you get into the 6th round, you're really just taking the top guy off your board.

I knew the 2 LB question would come up. It's all about value. Sintim is the best value at 41, no question in my mind. When you look at the board at 73 though, that's when it gets a little hazy. There isn't a player that's really a great value there IMO, so you take a player with the most upside. Williams has as much potential to be great as any player picked after him.

As for Nate Davis, I'm really not a big fan at all. I have him as the 9th best QB in the draft. He doesn't have great size first off. I know he's listed at 225ish but I look at him and he's not built like a 225 QB...Aaron Rodgers is listed at 220 but he looks bigger than Davis. He'll definitely need to add some muscle. Then there's the documented learning disability issue...I realize he's made it this far with it and I applaud him for that, but if there's any position in football you don't want a guy to have a learning disability, it's at QB. Supposedly his interviews at the combine didn't go so well. Throw in the fact that he'll have to make adjustments playing under center and learning a much different pro style offense (which many have to do obviously but that's always a big question mark)...and supposedly he's fought changing his throwing motion in the past. That's something NFL coaches will want to change immediately so how is he going to react? Seems like Quincy Carter 2.0...as talented as any QB in the NFL but doesn't have it upstairs to be the man. I hope I'm wrong and I hope the guy has a great NFL career but 1 team showed up to his pro day (the Colts who don't need a QB) so I can't imagine he'll get a call on draft day.

Like I said though, when you get into the late rounds with this stuff, you're basically taking the top guy off the board so you could probably substitute Davis for any of the late round QBs and it wouldn't matter!
ricky
LongTime FootballFan, kudos to you sir. Truly an epic work of research and thought. I am hesitant to offer any counter arguments- but I'll do it anyway.

I'd prefer a "change of pace" WR rather than another tall WR. Someone along the lines of Steve Smith (Carolina), a WR that is shifty and gets separation because of his sudden moves. Again, Patty started me thinking about this. I am now a total proponent.

Also, I'd perfer a punter that can stabilize the position in the late rounds, rather than taking a flier on another player.

There- those are my major objections, because, quite simply, I really like your picks for the Packers. Again, sir, kudos and more kudos. You have earned them.
TFecht
Wow, you are a bolder man than I! That had to have been exceedingly time consuming! If Clay Matthews is the only player you overlooked, that is amazing!!
Vinnie
That would be awesome... I have like Barden for some time, he is quie fast for 6-6 and on grass I think he just works with GB, pluss TT usually will not go without at least on receiver. Andre Smith, I could get use too, he has the tools and potential to be a #1 overall, just a little pumping on the work ethic. Part of me is glad it is not Jackson...
Patty
and I do it the hard way by calling contacts I have in every NFL city.

Good piece of work and while some of the selections you made do not make sense I can say that in the real draft some of the selections made by teams do not make sense either.

May I ask you how long it took to compile this. I usually spend about 15 hours over a weeks time doing a mock draft. About 1 round per day.

Again this was an effort appreciated by most. Good effort
Nacho
fair play to you, i wonder when you last seen your wife though? that is if you are marrried
LongTimeFootballFan
This surprisingly didn't take me that long. I've been compiling names and reading profiles for a while for a giant big board...I can't tell you how entirely accurate that board is because obviously I haven't seen all 400 guys play, so I'm forced to trust multiple draft outlets. The big board is what took me the longest, that's been going on for several weeks, just here and there for a couple hours at a time. I usually get Fridays off of work so in the mornings and after lunch I find some time to work on this stuff.

I wanted to do a Packer mock draft but be able to justify why/how player A would be available to us in round 2 or whatever. So I did rounds 1 and 2. That took a couple hours of thought and looking at team needs and stuff. Then another day I did 3 and 4. Then just the other day I finished 5, 6 and 7. Surprisingly, the late rounds are the hardest because you have to keep looking back and making sure you didn't just give the Buffalo Bills 5 RBs or whatever. But overall it took me about 4 or 5 days of off and on work. And yes I still made time to spend time with my girlfriend and celebrate my fathers birthday! biggrin.gif

I like your mock and Green Bay's selection. I would say that Quinn from NC would be selected at rd.4 vs another wr. Otherwise seems pretty good.
Well done!
