Round 1: Raji (NT)
Round 2: English (OLB)
Round 3: Kropog (OT)
Round 3b: Mickens (CB)
Round 4: Appleby (ILB)

With the exception of Appleby, if the first three rounds went like this I'd be doing backflips.

I'd be cool with that, but do you really think English would last to our pick in the 2nd?
Heatseeker
Nope, not at all lol

Pretty much a dream scenario.

Thats the great thing about mock drafts, they go the way you want them... for example in my mock draft I have us getting raji in the 7th round. Im betting NFL teams dont take him cause he is to fat and slow to be a reciever. O did i mention that in my draft raji is a wr and refuses to do anything but run routes?

I agree. I believe the 4th round is too early to select Appleby.

I love that draft. Sign Kevin Carter and we're ready to go.

See, our basic problem is that we have three areas that are crying out for attention: DL, OLB and OT. Even though I would love the Raji/ English combo, I'm not crazy about Kropog. Or I should say, not that I don't like him as a player, but I'm not sure he falls into that impact category.

If there was a way to trade down a few spots in the first and put us in a position to pick up another second rounder I'd love a combination of Oher/ best OLB available/ Brace. I think, unlike OT and NT, we have some potential at OLB with Jeremy Thompson. I think we can tread water there for a bit. OT needs an infusion of high round talent and if we can trade down a bit and pick up Oher or Smith, then use the next two picks on D I'd be very happy.

I'd just rather get the talent on the O-line when we can. One thing that can take a lot of pressure off the D is getting more ball control and better finishing (more TDs over FGs) out of the O.

I can't disagree with any of what you stated. I'll be happy if we draft Raji and I'll be happy if we draft Meredith in the 2nd. I'd also be happy with Oher and English. I do agree DL and OT are big needs areas. We need to beef up this defense, especially with the Bears adding Cutler. We have GOT to upgrade the pass-rush. I thought that was the weakest part of our defense. Hopefully, Capers can cook up some schemes that create some pressure.

By the way, I'd be thrilled if Walterfootball's draft works out that way for Green Bay.

Great point rpiotr,

And I agree, we can tread water there. But I think English even being available there represents tremendous value, and I just couldn't bring myself, nor do I see Thompson passing that up. That said, if it was Raji at 9 and Jamon Meredith in the 2nd, I'd LOVE to add 700 lbs. of player to the Packers biggrin.gif

To be honest, I think I like English more than Everette Brown. I know he doesn't have the same burst but the highlights I've seen of him show more more ability to fight through blockers than much of Brown's. He also looks to have better lower body mass and strength. Physically he looks a lot like James Harrison, similar looking silhouette. If he's there at the high second round spot then I don't think you can pass him up.

Like I said, I just think that in all the hoopla (rightful hoopla, let it be said) about the defense and it's shortcomings and changes etc., offense is getting overlooked. We have skill positions there but the trench is getting overlooked there. And if Rodgers takes a monster hit from Jared Allen or whoever due to a bad block and he misses time because of it, it's not going to matter what the defense does because the season will be over. And if the O as a whole continues to struggle running the ball and eating the clock late in games, the D is going to be under just as much stress as it was last year. I think it should be a team priority to really add some juice to the OT position when we have the chance, and that means picking someone up early.

Agreed all around.

I for one do not like Everette Brown at all. I have Orakpo, Maybin and English rated ahead of him. But you're right, we need at least one good OT from this draft. Thompson has got to, "hit" on someone. I just hope this is the year that we land a really good, starting caliber Tackle or two smile.gif
