This scenario is built on the assumption that the Lions do NOT take a QB at #1, but hope to still get their guy like the Browns did with Quinn. It also assumes that one of the top 2 QB prospects is there at #9.

So the Lions trade #20 (850), #33 (580) and #65 (265) = 1695 points for #9 (1350), #73 (225) and #109 (76) = 1651 points. That would be a 44 point premium, but maybe they would pay it to outbid other teams. Or maybe we give them our 5th rounder or a future pick/player to even it up a bit.

With the #20 pick, the Packers select Tyson Jackson - DE LSU

Then the Packers package #41 (490) and #83 (175) = 665 points for Philly's #28 (660).

With the #28 pick, the Packers select Jarron Gilbert - DE San Jose St.

With the #33 pick, the Packers select Connor Barwin - LB Cinn.

With the #65 pick, the Packers select Troy Kropog - OT Tulane

I will leave it at that since I don't know enough about players further down - although I would target that punter with at least one of our 6th round picks or maybe even the 5th rounder.

I would be super happy if this happened. I think the only chance we have of trading down happens if one of the qb's fall. Sanchez has been moving up boards, so I think it's probably unlikely that we have this chance, but I would love this draft if it happened. Although I might take someone else at 28, just because I don't think we need two DE's that high and I personally like Gilbert more than Jackson.

From what I have read, I really like both Gilbert and Barwin, but I worry that the Patriots will take one of them with pick #34. These trades give us 2 picks before them in the area that I think those two will get picked.

I would probably swith the Barwin and Gilbert picks around, but they both work. Most of the commentary on Gilbert I've heard is either really positive or really negative, for what its worth. If we get Jackson, though, I'm not certain that we would need Gilbert. Probably another DE later in the draft, say the 4th or 5th round, but 2 in the 1st round is a bit of a stretch. I'd say that we would go after a tackle with one of our 1st rounders and then get Gilbert or Jackson with the other in this scenario. JMO.

Funny that you should say that, because up until today I've been wanting a tackle with our first round pick. But it seems like they will either be long gone by #9 or have enough baggage that they seem like a reach at # 9. So I kind of settled on Kropog thinking that he would still be there at the top of round 3 and that he would suit our needs. However, I wouldn't mind one of the tackles instead of Jackson. Either Smith or Oher if they drop that far or Beatty or Britton. Any of those 4 would be reasonable at #20. Of course, go that direction and watch someone steal Gilbert before we can trade up for him!
