Jets want Sanchez so they trade there 1st/2nd and 6th for #9

1st (Jets-17)- Michael Ohler, LT falls a bit so he's ours
2nd (41)- Connor Barwin, LB not quite finshed but very useful
2nd (Jets-52)-Ron Brace, need NT
3rd (73) Terrance Taylor, NT (semi shade of Ron Wolfs 3 CBs in a row)
3rd (83) Farve pick grants us Shonn Green RB
4th (109) Bradley Fletcher CB
5th (145) King, will play DE (I know, an Iowa homer with 3 in a row rolleyes.gif )
6th (182) Jason Cook, FB (good blocker with good hands)
6th (187) Terrance Knighton, NT (Jolly good protection)
6th (Jets-193) Hubler, P why not, we need competion
7th (218) Best ST player available

I hope we sign Rob Bruggerman as a FA. Played C last year but can play G also. Experienced with zone blocking scheme.
(6-4, 293) ran a 5.05 and 5.09 in the 40, had a 33-inch vertical jump, an 8-foot, 8-inch broad jump, a 4.69 short shuttle, a 7.69 three-cone drill and did 32 bench press reps.
OH Packer revisited
First 2 picks are a dream scenario. Then you go with a bunch of Iowa guys. Green is a good player but I don't think he lasts that long. King is a player I like but I don't know about him fitting in a 3-4. He's only 6'1 and he'd have to play end. 3 NTs? I think you're going a bit overboard. I'll take the first 3 picks and Huber but thats just me.
Hands
I would be pleased with the trade and the first 2 picks. After that, not so sure.

I'll just comment on the positions chosen. Thee NT's? That seems a bit excessive/obsessive. One LBer, one DE, one OL. A RB in the third?

Wow. Thanks for the try, but I really don't care for this draft.

218 take CB Mark Parson.
eX Oh
All the NTs are the big question mark for me as well. Pickett is a lock for one spot, how many more spots are there?

Bunch of Iowa guys, yea, but there was a warning rolleyes.gif
Ohler is better than a 17th pick but it's a deep draft at OT and he could easily fall to 17.
Barwin is a good player. Not 1st round stuff though. Only 1 year playing defense, and not tooled or schooled for coverage. Could be locked in as a pass rusher early in his career. That means 3-4 teams will have interest but 4-3 teams won't look at him as a top pick. NE is always in the mix due to the Vrabel comparisons, but Vrabel was a much more finished product from a top football power and conference. Barwin is Vrabel light at best right now. 41 seems about right to me.
Drafting 3 NTs, yea one too many. Word has it this year will be a mix of 3-4/4-3 . Pickett is 29 (30 in Oct) and is going through the usual leg problems a man of that size is going to experience when playing this game. Having two young NTs is not only smart but may be necessary, especially down the road. We would be only one Pickett knee or groin pull away from zero NTs if Jolly's legal problems turn into a train wreck.
Ahh, King. End is his projected pro position. He's a major disruptive force on the DL and should be solid at DE in a 3-4. Not anywhere near a speed rusher, but you will really enjoy seeing our LBs mop up run after run as King penetrates into the backfield to blow up plays. Smart GMs find spots for players like King.

The trade is fine. The heart however is ruling the mind here. Highly doubt Oher makes it to #17. Barwin and Brace don't fall that far either. The top 3 won't happen. Your best bet is to figure out what other teams will want and need in the process of setting up your picks. If you really want Barwin you are probably going to have to take him at #17 or maybe trade down just a bit more. There are a number of 3-4 teams at the end of Rd 1 and early in Rd 2 that will snatch him up before #41. Same with Brace. You're going to have to grab him at #41 at the latest because there are several teams, but most especially Denver that will need a NT and you won't get him later in Rd 2.

Your best bet might have been to forget one or two of the top 3 guys. Lets say you go with Beatty at #17, then Brace at #41, then at #52, maybe target the next best OLB that is likely to be there. Or, just take Barwin at #17, Brace at #41 and maybe a RT type guy later. Lastly, perhaps a Barwin/Meredith top 2 would work and you can look at a NT in the 3rd/4th somewhere.

I like the Fletcher pick, he screams "TT type guy". He's one of the guys I'd add to my potential TT picklist. Tall, fast, needs some development. I like the Knighton selection, but 3 NT's is not wise use of the draft picks. You'll end up having to cut one or two just to get to 53 players. You might take 2 if one of them is really late and see if you can stash him on the practice squad. Honestly, if Brace is gone, just take BPA for a couple of rounds and then grab Knighton in the 5th.
