Excellent! And what ever young coach you hire, I'll be there to throw two first rounders your way to take him from you. I am also getting ready to pick players that will never play for my team (like Bo Jackson), do better elsewhere (Steve Young, Vinny Testaverde), or help me retake the "win less" record from Detroit.

Ok last time I went with Curry. But now with them getting Peterson they won't need a LB. So instead I think the Lions choose to wait another year to get a better QB in the 2010 draft and choose to shore up the OL. So with the first pick in the 2009 draft the Detroit Lions select Jason Smith OT Baylor.
LeRoy36
Apr 4 2009, 12:04 PM
Very upsetting that the Lions took Jason Smith but it was probably going to come down to either him or Monroe for the Rams and me and the Lions just made our pick for us.
Rams select Eugene Monroe OT Virginia.
Better pass protector than Smith at this point, but isnt that nasty in the run game. Although Monroe is probably the safer pick of the two (at least most scouts seem to think so). So goodbye Pace hello Monroe.
*did give thought to selecting Curry but the money for a linebacker is too much and its much better spent on an LT when we have a huge hole at that position.

Dang, not liking the way the picks fell in front of me (wanted to give Braylon some help or add Curry)... but I'll reach because Cleveland is desperate for some pass-rushing help. With pick #5 the Browns select:
Brian Orakpo - OLB
Won't help stop the outside runs, but hopefully will put some pressure on the QB. HUGE potential for bust but fills a need.

Sadly that could be said for nearly every top prospect available this year: Matt Stafford, Mark Sanchez, Orakpo, BJ Raji, Malcolm Jenkins, Everette Brown, Aaron Maybin, Jason Smith, Andre Smith, Jeremy Maclin...
In my opinion, only Eugene Monroe and Aaron Curry look like "what you see is what you get" type of picks.

With Shaun Rogers at voluntary workouts, NT becomes "stable" again. I considered Rey Maualuga at ILB, but #5 is WAY too early. WR and OLB is much more of a need, so I went with it. Realistically, Cleveland trading back into 9-14 spot would be a smart move, don't know if they can pull-it-off.

With the sixth pick the Cincinnati Bengals select Jeremy Macklin WR Missouri. I get three players in one. WR, KR, and PR. I think Macklin is going to be a flat out stud in the NFL. With the Bengals losing TJ ( can't speel his last name) and are actively shopping OCHO CONCO time to get Carson Palmer a new playmaker.

Apr 5 2009, 03:05 PM
With Crabtree and Maclin both off the board this pick comes down to two players, both with some risk but not enough to deter us from taking either: Andre Smith and BJ Raji. With having signed Barnes this offseason we will look to shore up our defensive line with BJ RAJI.

Both top two receivers and tackles are gone. In shock that both QBs are still there we switch gears to grab our QB of the future. We stick with Del Rio's alma mater and take Mark Sanchez over Stafford (and because we think he's the better of the two).
