My selections are based on the prospect ratings from nfldraftscout.com.
Extend Kampman, Pickett, Jennings, Spitz. Wait and see on Colledge, Jolly and Collins. Stand firm with Williams. If Colledge plays some LT this year and proves he can handle the position then extending him/re-sign will most likely be the smart move. If Jolly can play both DE and NT and Harrell blows then re-signing this guy will be a priority. If Harrell shows up this year and produces then Jolly is probably gone.
Will GB have Collins 07 or 08 this season. If GB has Collins of 07 then I would let him go. If GB has Collins of 08 he will probably be too expensive. I think either way Collins may be moving on next year. williams had one good season - do not panic and give in to this guy and give him too much money.
Signing Smith to bolster the safety position was a good move. Preston to bolster both guard positions and center was also wise.
Probably looking at their last year with GB: Driver, Lee, and Harris. A lot will depend on what kind of numbers Driver puts up and how well Jones and Nelson play. Good seasons from both will probably force Driver out the door. If Finley plays well and a big TE is found in this draft Lee may be expendable.
Draft:
1(9) - Brown, OLB FSU. I do not think Raji will be there at #9. If Brown gets past Cleveland he will most likely be ours. If not, and Raji is also gone I like Mauluaga, LB USC. If for some reason Raji is there I think he is a no brainer.
2(41) - Moala, DT USC. Can play both end positions and NT. Some say he is inconsistent and others say he did not need to play great all the time because he had such good linebackers behind him. If Raji is the pick at #9 I think TT moves up into the end of the first and takes Barwin, OLD/DE Cin.
3(73) - Cadogan, RT PSU. Most likely only a RT, but RT is a need. Played LT PSU. Add depth to both positions.
3(83) - McKillop, ILB Pitt. A true inside LB with his size is needed - if not now, down the road. He would add depth and I would think contribute on special teams. If TT waits to get this guy in the 4th I believe he will be gone. Now or never.
4(109) - Ronald Quinn, TE UNC. A big, blocking TE is needed. He is moving up the boards and and I think the 4th round is right for him.
5(145) - Taylor, NT Mich. Depth behind Pickett is needed. This guy is a plug. Having this guy sharing snaps with Pickett will allow Pickett to stay fresh especially in December. This position may become crowded this season if Jolly and Harrell both show they can also play NT. I went back read the profiles for Jolly and Harrell on nfldraftscout and both are considered pluggers. If TT and MM also feel this way then either Corvey Irvin, DT UGA or Brinkly, ILB SC may be the guy.
6(182) - Huber, Punter Cin. We all know punter is a need. I'm sure this guy punted in cold weather in Cinci.
6(187) - Lydon Murtha, OT Neb. Too good to pass up for the ZBS. Did anyone else see this guy at the combine? I'm suprised he is not higher so there must be concerns - maybe injuries.
7(218) - Pedescleaux, DE NIU. 6'6", 305 - what a beast. I think he is worth a 7 pick. We might strike gold with this guy.
If I am so smart and this off season, regular season and the draft fall this way then CB and S will be our primary needs next season.
