I am sure he has a few good years left in him. He is athletic enough to play any of the LB positions. If he is cut, he would be a good pick up for the Packers. He is 30 years old so, he still has a few good years left.

The team’s alternative offer isn’t known, but Peterson’s agents would be wise to find out whether someone else would pay Peterson more than that before telling the Seahawks to stick it.

I have my doubts any team would match what the Seahawks are supposed to pay him this year.

With that said I wouldnt mind having him. His #s have dropped a little over the years but not dramatically. I think it would be a good pickup. I dont remember what side he plays on but I think Brady and Brandon would be the odd men out for their position if Julian came in.

Absolute Poison! He will turn the locker room... He is a cancer I tell you.

I would be very happy if the Packers signed Peterson. The guy is a great player but the team defense as a whole stunk last year. It's hard for the LB's to look good when the DL is taking the gas-pipe. Seattle's defense was just not good last year. It certainly wasn't Julian's fault. I doubt TT would pay what it would require to sign him though. We'll see.

Are you serious? I've never heard or read that about him out here. I can't tell if you are joking, being sarcastic, or if you really mean it. huh.gif
Bluedog
I would hardly classify Julian Peterson as a Great player! I'll pass on the guy. We don't need him.

I agree. The forums seem to have a lot of this maybe- maybe not sarcasm floating around. Makes for a bad environment. Sarcasm + Interwebs = Fail.

Great move by the Lions in my Opinion..

meh, the Seahawks need a NT and Peterson isn't going to be a factor since no one infront of him to take up blockers.
GBP4EVER
Well this does help meaning that there is little chance now that they would take Raji with there pick.
PACKmanN
there still is Oakland who can take him.

Agreed. They are doing a nice job bringing in solid players. Add to that they have 3 of the first 33 picks in the draft and they are in pretty good shape for rebuilding purposes.
Personally, I think the Lions should stay away from Stafford unless they plan on letting him sit for a year while they build a line. Culpepper is a good stop-gap while Stafford learns. That said, if I were them I'd grab either Jason Smith or Eugene Monroe and count on drafting high again next year.

From what I read Davis has a hard on (after taking his Viagra) for Crabtree.

I never bought into the hype around Peterson. He's a good LB, but never thought he was anything special.

But still, good move for the Lions. Adding talent to the LB corps can only help Ernie Sims.

Only if Raji can run the 40 in 4.3 or better! laugh.gif

well I still wouldn't rule out the Seahawks, other then Cole, they do not have a true NT. I wouldn't be excited going into the season with Redding, Cole, Mebane, and Bryant.
Big Dave
Ever since Peterson signed that mega deal with Seattle, his play has tapered off. Is he an upgrade on the Lions' defense? That's hard to say. I see it more as a lateral move. Dump some money here, you get player X, I'll take player Y, yada, yada, yada. If you ask me, the Hawks' getting Corey Redding is the better end of the deal.

Those funny Lions. While I give them kudos for trying. None of their moves has made me very nervous. wink.gif I really hope they take Stafford #1. That would be icing on the cake...

I wouldn't either, but I think that since they're addressing the need in FA and through trades might mean that they plan on taking a DT later or not at all. While that group isn't something to be afraid of, it's still serviceable and not as big of a need as before they added Redding.

Agreed. Also wonder if it means no potential of Curry at #1 for the Lions

Michael Lombardi has been on NFL Network several times saying there's no way Oakland takes a wideout. He worked there for several years. He reiterated it again last night (I think there's a link on NFL.com) tHey are going o-line or d-line.

Sure but other then Cole, they don't have a proven NT. I question if Bryant can amount to anything and Cole isn't a starter, at all.

They don't even really need a NT, since they play the 4-3, which doesn't necessarily require a NT. Maybe Brace or Hood in rd 2, but I don't even think that will happen.

I dont know how anyone can say Cole is proven he has been a career backup. I think Redding will be a good DT for them though.

I agree. Cole may end up being a fine lineman in this leauge, and hope he is, but at this point the books still out on him. I will miss some quality depth he provided for The Pack.
ATLPACK99
Leave it to the Lions to trade a young player and a draft pick for a player that was going to get released anyway. That's a lot of money for an aging vet.

huh? A NT role in the 4-3 is to take the OC and RG which allows players around him to make plays... Of course they need a NT because if a team doesn't have a NT teams will run over you...
