Me too. Would've been a great addition. He's got at least a couple of years left.

Didn't Denver sign John Lynch a few years ago, after a long career in TB? Sorry, I disagree. Dawkins is sure to be a HOF player. However, consider- he's 35! In football terms, that's ancient! Yes, I know Warner had a fluke year where he actually managed to stay healthy, and the Cardinals got "hot" at the right time. But gimme a break! Dawkins instead of- Bigby? The Packers are looking to stay young, and develop younger players. I'm just sorry Dawkins has to end his career with strangers.

Yes Dawkins instead of Bigby. He would be the QB back there, mentor Collins. I thought the idea was to win and put the best 22 on the field? Looking to stay young? well that's my big complaint with Thompson. When you have a chance to upgrade, then upgrade. You dont have to break the bank to do that.

Is he an upgrade at 35? He was burned not once but 3 times in the NFC championship game. Bigby is 24 and full of potential. I remember the raving reviews he got from his peers Woodson and Harris, 2 of the best ever. He was injured last year why wouldnt the Packers feel he not only is better than Dawkins at this stage of their careers but has more upside.

Dawkins even realizes this that is why he said he is open to return to the Eagles...

i agree with you. why get a guy on the downside of his career in the hope of winning now. i'd take a guy who isnt as good as an older player but is 10 years younger in almost every circumstance. for the young guy the sky is the limit and has a lot of up side. for old players, all u really can hope for is him to stay about the same or not slide a lot. i know the nfl is a "win now" league but people have to be pacient and let talent develop because in the future we will be better off.

Yes he is an upgrade over Bigby. Sure he got burned in the NFCCC but Fitz made many look foolish. And AHH the word potential. Talent wins in the NFL not potential.

How do you come to that conclusion? Based on past history ? Last year he stunk and the games that counted the most the playoffs he looked foolish. I remember one time he was burned so bad that he faked an injury to discredit himself from getting burned so bad. Dawkins was a Bigby once 11 years ago when he was an up and comer. I will take what Woodson and Harris say far more than us (bloggers) . Philadelphia CUT him with a up and comer to replace him .

i know potential means u havent done anything yet but he isnt the brian dawkins that he used to be. he is diminishing each year and after say 2 years what would we do then? sign another old player who is declining then pay him too much money? whats wrong with having a young guy play for us for 8-10 years and let him get to that level after 3 years? people with that philosophy were mad to see favre go because he had to be better than rodgers because he was proven and look what heppened, rodgers outperformed favre, we didnt sacrifice the future just to make sure we have a proven vet under center.

To me Dawkins is going to Denver for the money nothing else. Denver is not close to a SB so I have no idea why they would want him. Dawkisn is the Eugne Robinson a player that has very little left but could help put a contender over the top.

I tend to agree with the money part. Denver is as far away from the SB as the rest of the bottom level of teams in the NFL.

I do disagree with Robinson though. He was a damn good player for us. I know he got burned in the ATL/DEN SB but I think he had other things on his mind...

Couldn't care less about signing the guy, but what an awesome player to watch throughout his career. Gotta respect a guy who played the way he has.
