If we can get 2 or 3 of these guys I will be happy

1. Ray Lewis (long in the tooth but would be a big help in teaching the 3-4)
2. Bary Scott
3. Chris Canty
4. Chris Gamble
5. Matt Birk
6. Eric Barton
7. Khalif Barnes
8. Rocky Benard
9. Igor Olshansky
10. Tank Johnson

I did leave out anyone who got tagged and also left off Brian Dawkins and Keith Brooking because I belive both love where they are at and will re-sign. That being said my number one Lewis loves the Ravens, but has said he won't talk a discount to stay with them.

Sorry, but I respectfully disagree. After initially thinking Lewis would be a good pick up, I have changed my mind. Too big a contract for a guy who is slowing down and less effective. Besides, the Packers have brought in a coach (Kevin Greene) to bring some enthusiasm and teach the OLBers the 3-4. Why bring in Lewis?

Matt Birk is undoubtedly a terrific center- but old (in football terms). Spitz is more than adequate at that spot, with Wells as a backup. Barton and Barnes, I believe, are both on their "last legs". Tank Johnson has been a cancer in the Cowboys locker room (among the other cancers- actually, too many to count in one post).

Scott, Canty, Olshansky, Bernard are solid possibilities. I'll pass on Gamble- a name, not a real player, IMO.

Olshansky, Bernard, Canty, and I'll throw out another name Shaun Cody from Detroit. IMO TT must sign two DL in FA. The Pack has plenty of LB. Kampman, Barnett, Hawk, Bishop, Poppinga, Chillar, Thompson, and Hunter. Why does everyone believe we need to add another LB. Ray Lewis no thanks.

The DL needs to be upgraded. I've said this in other posts. Pickett is solid, Jolly ( facing suspension) Jenkins ( coming off an injury) Harrell ( nuff said) Cole and Montgomery wont be back. You could have four probowl LB playing for you but if the DL can't take up blockers your LB'S are wothless.

If they don't feel they have the RT of the future on the roster, Mike Goff would be better than Mark Tauscher. He's a year older, but hasn't missed a game in several seasons. If they like the young guys, there is no need.

Barnes will only be 27 years old in April and Barton will turn 32 just after the season starts. Also I have not heard one bad thing about Johnson since he went to Dallas as it seems he has tried to turn his life around. Also while Lewis would cost alot I think he still could provide 2-3 years of good play and I think he would be a better at helping the guys out and most importanly would be the leader on defense we have not had since Butler and White.

I completely agree with you lawdog. I am a much bigger fan of Olshansky and Bernard than I am of Canty. I too think Shaun Cody would be a great bargain pick up. Correct me if I'm wrong, but he was a "tweener" coming out of college and in Detroit. I think he could possibly be a great rotation and depth player.

I'd like to see Olshansky and Cody signed with Raji drafted. I believe that would be a great start to the dline and give the Pack some security against Jolly's legal troubles, Jenkin's injury, Cole's FA, and Harrell's ability to warm a bench.

OK- Barton is quite simply too old for TT to move on, IMO. His getting Woodson was very unusual for him. Barnes? Still a name, not a talent. Thanks for your original post and your response, but I still disagree with your post- except where noted on my original response.
OH Packer revisited
I'd be willing to bet we get 0 on that list. Not that I don't want any, I just looked into my crystal ball and I see nothing but role players being added. What makes the most sense is a 3-4 DE.
