I have never thought much of bigby but I think Leonhard could come in right away and start for us at SS and be part of our ST.

I think this would help us too..

He is somewhat small for a SS isn't he. It couldn't have hurt that he played alongside Ed Reed. I believe he's a good player but a healthy Bigby might be a better SS beside Collins than Leonhard

I think him playing beside Ed Reed is making him look better then he is. If he makes a mistake Reed is allows there to clean it up.

Tell that to Harbaugh who just loves the guy, and says he's a football player that makes plays every single week. Why would the let him sign elsewhere? I think he'll be back with the Ravens.

Jim Leonhard would be a nice addition to the Packers. I watched him several times while he played at UW. The guy just has IT. Very intelligent and is always in the right position. In the open field Leonhard will make the tackle and not take bad angles. I believe the reason Ed Reed was so dominant this year was because of Leonhard. This would be a nice signing by TT.

It's actually the opposite way around. When Reed makes a mistake (because he's allowed to roam and make plays), it's Leonhard who cleans it up. Reed has said this himself.

Also, I've been amazed at how well Leonhard has played up around the line of scrimmage and how well he tackles.

If Leonhard is the best safety prospect available and he fits the new scheme, by all means sign him. I am always cautious about our love of former badgers. I'd love to see him in GB, but i am a biased Badger fan as well.

I'll second that for sure!!! And Reed has said Leonhard was abig reason for his success this year.

As a total package he is a great safety-just as good if not better than Bob Sanders at Indy. He was great player at UW and one of the very few on the whole football squad who could dunk a basketball -very athletic at 5'9''.

He would be a great signing for TT for several reasons but it probably will not be - there's no way Ravens will let him go.

While I said I would like Leonhard. I think he will either re-sign with the Ravens or join Rex Ryan in NY

Better then Sanders?! No. He is not. If Sanders played with Ed Reed it would be so sick that the league would be like, "No way! You guys can't have both of them! That's just SICK!"
Sanders has been the Colts defensive MVP for several years. Leonhard has been a solid player on an extremely talented Baltimore defense. Suggs, Ray Lewis, Ngata, Reed, etc. I wouldn't argue with a Leonhard signing, but I don't think its that much of a step up from what we already have.

Honestly, I'm not even sure he is a step-up.

I've watched a lot of Jim Leonard--I grew up four miles away from the kid.

There is no doubt that he puts himself in advantageous positions; that is, he has a knack for making plays.

At the same time, he is pretty bad in one-on-one coverage, and he takes some really bad angles at times. His tackling is about average as well.

People say Reed had a good year because of Leonard, but I couldn't disagree more. Leonard looked much better playing alongside Reed.

I think he is a solid player, and he has exceeded my expectations. But I don't know if he is any better than Bigby or Rouse. In fact, I think he plays quite similar to Rouse: he will often make a splash play, but he gives up quite a few along the way.

Catch-22 type player.

The Packers have much bigger needs.

Has anyone thought about this free agent as a good pick up for the Packers I think with all the free agents the ravens have we could sign J Leonhard their safety. I think with him being a wisconsin native and graduate he would love to play for the Gren and Gold. I think the Bears might be eyeing him to with the safety problems they have. He would solitify our safety spot. Do you think it would be a good idea to go after him

Thanks for the welcome and the info on the link. I am a Packer fan stuck in the heart of Bear country down in the suburbs of Chicago. I think we should make a run at him. I know we will have alot of $ to spend on F/A. I would rather spend it on good quality players rather than going out and spending it on just a couple big name players. ala Jets. Look how the Patriots sign players who know how the game should be played.
