Full Version: Why is this happening?

Last week, I emailed LMG and asked him if PackerChatters was down and he said no... Normally, I just click (once) the PC tab (I have Firefox, the latest version) and PC comes up.. Well, I have to click a number of times in succession, click, click, click, click even for the page to come up and sometimes to post a reply, start a new topic, or go from room to room, I have to click my mouse several times in rapid succession in order to do any of the above mentioned tasks..

Why is this happening? It happens on the desktop I have here and it has XP home, I use my daughters 2007 laptop with vista and the same thing.. My wife has a brand new laptop 2008 and it does the same exact thing..

I have charter cable, with a wireless router and up until last week, one click on the pc tab did the trick...

Thansk in advance,

Had a buddy of mine that this just happened to Saturday, although it was a different server than what PC is on. My best guess is that Charter, which he has as well, is having some rolling DNS issues which is making some sites not resolve correctly.

I know for a fact that none of our servers where down recently so I have no other idea except for the above one.

Oberst,

All was working fine last week... It has to be Charter... Can you delete those posts of mine?

It just happened to me and I don't have charter.

It just took me several times (dozen or so) of clicking on the PC tab (Fire Fox) just to log onto chatters....

My advice is to go to a wifi hotspot with the laptop and see what happens. That way you can rule out your ISP.

yea, it's a little hard to trouble shoot something like this when I don't experience it so can't see it happening first hand

I was having trouble at home with this site and I have Charter internet. I could get on it at work (Don't tell my boss). What I did was add PackerChatters as a trusted site.

Tools
Internet Options
Security
Trusted Sites
Sites
put in HTTPS://www.packerchatters.com - my browser said I had to add the s on the end of http to say it was a trusted site or something
click add

It worked for me but maybe you were having different issues than me.

I don't know if anyone has said it already, but it is not because you have Charter, I have Charter and in fact work for them and am typing this note while at work at Charter...so it's not charter blocking the site...

I didn't say that Charter was blocking anything, what I said was whether it was possible when Charter refreshes DNS that a site may or may not be available momentarily until things are resolving correctly with the refereshed DNS. It's the only common denominator I have seen so far.

FWIW,

It appears to work fine with internet explorer.... Why would that be and not with Firefox?

personally I do not like firefox because I think Microsoft does stuff to their software so it doesn't work right at times. No proof just my feeling

Now internet explorer doesn't work mad.gif It has to be something with Charter... I did call them and basically had no answer..... Why this website is having problems, I dont have an answer.

I have been having problems just with chatters too for about a week. Although i just assigned the website as trusted and now seems to be working.

just in case you dont know how to do that :

1. Click on tools in the right corner of the screen (Interent explorer)
2. Click on security
3. Click the green check mark that says trusted sites.
4. Lower the settings
5. Click the sites box
6. Packerchatters should already be in the box, but i had to add the "S" in httpS//

Thanks, but how do you do it for Firefox???

Well after working for a little bit, it then stoped loading the pages again. So making it a trusted site doesnt seem to help.

Is there maybe a new add that messes up the computers? Because it only load 1 out of like 10 times.

It works great for me at work.

It has been this way for over a week and im missing all the draft chats sad.gif

I have vista at home, is that it?

i have internet explorer and have charter.

why ooo why please help.
R man
Every site that I have works EXCEPT for chatters.... I have to left click my mouse like 20 or so times in rapid succession in order to get chatters up.. If I reply, like I am doing now, it won't let me.. Sometimes I get lucky and it works.. Sometimes, when I post, I'll have like 10 or so posts that are the same..

I called charter and there is nothing they can do or want to do.. It's not just my PC, this happens on my daughters laptop (vista) and my wifes laptop (brand new XP) so it leads me to believe its charter...

I have XP home on this comp, charter, and a wireless router if that helps.

It's odd because I wasn't able to access packerchatters for several days until it started working last night, but the rest of the wisconsin sports on-line sites worked fine. Seems to be back to normal now though.
