Full Version: potential free agents
PackerChatters > PackerChatters > NFL Talk > Free Agency

Here is a list of potential free agent linemen on both sides of the ball from Pro Football Weekly.
Of course this list will look a lot different come this spring when free agency starts. I know some people will say Ted has to sign Hanesworth or Peppers but we all know that is not going to happen.
I can see him looking at a starting caliber guard- a role playing D lineman who can rush the passer.
Also remember the Packers have a lot of players who will be free agents after 09 including Jennings and Pickett and Ted typically takes care of his own first

Igor Olshansky and Jovon Haye on the DL and Jordan Gross to replace Tausher. I am not advocating not resigning Tausch I just don't think it is going to happen. Draft OT Jason Smith from Baylor and let him learn a year behind Cliffton. Of course I want Hanesworth just don't think it is possible.

The 2 guys that would turn the team around are obviously Peppers and Haynesworth. Slim shot at getting one of them and even worse shot at getting both. I would push for Peppers, Jenkins can rotate and theres desperate need for a DE who can move the pocket. With Peppers and Kampman any of the DTs will be able to look like studs. Go to the draft for OL and FA for Peppers and this team will make a legit playoff run next year.

Marc Colombo just signed a 4 year deal with Dallas.

I, like many others would love Haynesworth and Peppers as well. However if TT does go the FA route I think he'd most likely go after someone like Igor Olshansky, even though he's a DE I think he'd be an ok DT in a 4-3 scheme. He played DT in a 4-3 in college I believe.
