Full Version: Which FA would you like?

I think that we are just about at the point where we are only one Reggie White away from the Superbowl. If TT is ever going to go after a top-flight FA, it should be now. So who would you sign? Vote and discuss. Assume that none of the listed players are re-signed by their current teams.

Nacho
Awsumo!!

I just like him more than the rest that are going to be out there.

I went with Peppers cuz we need to put more pressure on the oppositions' QBs. A nice offensive guard would be nice too...

I'd pay for Nmandi. I really believe this kid may turn out to be one of the best corners ever. I still love Harris and Woodson, but in a few years they will have slowed down almost definitely. I'd have picked Albert H. considering how important and gamechanging such a powerful DT can be, but seriously, he's a complete douchebag. His stomp was disgraceful and in his interviews he just comes off as ignorant and stupid. Nmandi on the other hand is very humble. I'm curious if he'll get paid more than Clements, he definitely should be. I felt it was a huge slight by Davis to tag him and then go sign DeAngelo for a ridiculous amount of money. What was Nmandi's response? He was happy to be playing beside a pro bowler who had loads of talnet. Personally I didn't think Hall was worth it. Oh, and I'm 99 percent sure Peppers will be re-signed by Carolina. So yeah, Nmandi forsure, love that dude.

Completely irrelevant, but I traded a 1st, a 2nd, and a 4th for him in Madden, and it was totally worth it. Somehow he was given 1 for his number. So appropriate. Love that dude. Get him Ted, I'll pitch in 50 bucks.

Haynesworth

He cannot only stuff the run but brings pressure up the middle

If we got all 3 of those Free Agents, I would almost garauntee a Super Bowl.

What a defense we would have!

Sorry- Peppers is a "name", and not worth a huge contract. He once was terrific- now, he's just below average. A large PASS on this guy.

Sorry, but I don't want Mmandi- too many bucks, too little bang. I think Tramon Williams has shown himself to be a decent replacement for Harris. Unless you're suggesting Mnandi should replace Woodson. In which case I'd say that Blackmon has looked pretty good. Not great, but with more "real time", I think he could be much better. So, who would Nmandi replace for huge bucks?

Agreed, he is a game-changer, but any of these guys would be a welcome addition. Regarding Peppers, he may just need a change of scenery. Kerse was all done but he seems to be towing the line for the Titans.

Nmandi will probably get Francised again. Huff will become eligible again maybe.

Maybe Tony G. will come back into play?

I think Reggie was arguably the best free agent signing in the history of the NFL. The franchise tag has made it a lot more difficult to get that quality of player under today's free agency rules. Getting somebody that exceptional isn't as easy as it sounds - in my opinion.

Do you mean 'too little bang' as in not enough INT's? NA is perhaps the best corner in the NFL because teams do not throw to his side of the field, and I mean that literally. In seven games teams have thrown to Nmandi's side of the field 8 times, and of those 8 throws, 2 were 'throw aways, and only 2 were caught - one a no gain hitch, and one a six yard hitch. He has been playing at this level for three years and he's only 26 years old. Who would he replace? Anyone, because no one shuts down one side of the field like he does. If he keeps up his great play he will be considered one of the best to play his position - maybe not by fans or media pundits who'd like to see INT's as proof of good play, but rather by defensive coaches and top scouts who drool over his stellar play.

How can the Raiders be so bad???

They could play a 4-4-3 with the safety helping the other CB and never get run or thrown on!!!

The Raiders have given up 1529 passing yds this years and only 6 have been on NA??

I guess I better go download a Raider game or 2 and watch this guy!!!

Go Pack!!
Gregg
The guy I am interested in is Jordan Gross.

We have to get better at OT.

The only top free agent I would touch is Nnamdi Asomugha. The one and only player I hope TT makes push for is Chris Snee. But I doubt he decides to test the open market.

I suspect this year will be a little different in terms of free agency -- for once, the Packers have some cap money and (more uniquely) nobody major to re-sign.

I have mentioned on several other topics that Chris Snee is not available. He signed an extension last summer. He is also Tom Coughlin's son-in-law so there is another reason he won't be leaving the Gaints as long as Tom is coach.

I would select Hainesworth. The DT position has been weak this year. With Jolly's continuing legal problems, can't count on how much he will be around next year. Pickett's contract is up after 2009 and Hainesworth might be a good replacement. If Jolly and Harrell pan out, could decide not to resign Pickett if Hainesworth plays like he has the past two years.

Don't we need to resign G. Jennings?

Yeah, but I'm pretty sure we can still get that done with this year's cap dollars rather than next. I might be wrong, though -- the salary cap confuses the hell out of me.

Hainesworth may have a significant injury to his MCL, which I believe is pretty dire for a pass rusher. We need to see how that plays out here over the next week.

Snee is Tom Coughlin's son-in-law, I think the Giants have th inside track on him.

Or maybe Snee is much like myself and would like to get as far away from his in-laws as possible.... wink.gif

It's been said] that The Pack is 7 or 8 or more players away from being a contender. I think they're one or two Big FA's away. Hayneworth and or Peppers in the off season would be a positive step.
PACKmanN
nvm, i heard that the Giants signed Snee to a 6 year deal. After reading that, the only ones I would target are Shane Lechler and/or Vernon Carey. But the problem for this years free agents for offensive linemen is that there mostly RTs, if not all are better suited for the RT position. And in a ZBS, that is the least important part of the line.

My Top 5 fa we should target:

1. Shane Lechler
2. Vernon Carey
3. Kelvin Hayden(If Al Harris is traded)
4. Bertrand Berry
5. Pete Kendall

yes not impressive list of names, but they are role players and some starters who are good at what we need them to do.
