Okay, so the latest episode of As The Favre Turns concerns our favorite former QB calling Matt Millen on his super secret football fone to offer tips and advice on how to defeat his former team. Please give us your expert opinions on the impact, if any of this topic.

Here are mine (with the caveat that this report is based in fact):
1) Management should withdraw their offer for Favre to become a 'marketer" for the Packers when his illustrious career comes to a close. Any money earmarked for Favre to be part of the organization should be removed from any future budgets.
2) Retire his jersey? Don't think so.
3) Ring of Honor. Mmmmmaybe. But wait a decade or so for that.

hotwheels
let's see, based on the fact that this is still a fictional story, I don't think that we as an organization should "Pete Rose" Brett Favre from the Packers organization.

and isn't Matt Millen Fired?

Disagree,

On #1 Favre will provide much needed income to the Packer in future years. This isnt a short term decision, this is long term 25-30 year decision. There may come a time a decade or two from now with when Favre's popularity around the country could keep the Packer franchise in GB.
You don't want to lose that over something petty like this, and YES it is petty compared to the Packers organization.

On #2, Farve deserves to have his number retired in GB, he was a once in a lifetime player.

On #3, Ring of Honor too, he deserves it.

Im not saying I want the guy as my QB any longer , I'm just saying in his day he was a iconic player and deserving player. Paul Hornung actually broke NFL rules, was suspended for a year, and is in the Pro Football HOF. Favre hasnt come close to that. Need to keep Favre in the Packer fold.

IF The incident is true as reported and Brett's goal was to undermine the Packers chances for success,
I don't believe any marketing position, retired number or ring of fame should happen for a while.

I disagree as well.

While I personally, may reneg my Brett Favre fandom when this proves to be true (more because this will have proven he has flat out lied on multiple occasions). The Green Bay Packers organization needs to be more professional then the casual fan.

So, I pretty much think all will happen, regardless...it just might take a year or two now, instead of instantaneous.

1.) He'll get his promotional contract with the Packers, because he sells merchandise. And its a smart business decision for the organization. Just push this back a year or two and I think both sides would like the year or two wait.

2 & 3) He'll get his both his number and inducted into the Ring of Honor. To think Brett Favre won't, is kinda ludicrous imo. And to be fair, a little overreacting. I can't even imagine anything he could do, that would make the organization NOT retire the man's number.

What most people are missing is this happens not only in the NFL more times than we are aware of but happens IN ALL pro sports. The difference here is that its Brett Favre. You dont think Jon Ryan was asked quesitons about the Pack before the Seattle game?

you are so wrong. John Ryan PLAYS for seattle. ex players sharing info on their former teams with their CURRENT team has always happened, but no has ever shared info about their former team with other teams they don't play for.

that's why this is a big deal in the sports world, its never happened before.

I am wide awake and if you think this is the first time it ever happened in the NFL you are living in a fantasy world

...and if you think Jon Ryan talking to Seattle coaches is the same as this, so are you.

My point was sharing info in the league is a common thing. Actually Ryan may have more info on the 2008 Packers than Favre since he was on the roster in week 1. At the end of the day they are the same, both players are sharing info on their former team.

AGAIN do you think Jay Glazer would have made this a story if Craig Nall was on the phone with Millen?

I understand your point about sharing info, but the two situations are distinctly different. One is considered acceptable, the other isn't.

Craig Nall has nothing to do with this. It was Favre who was on the phone with Millen and admitted it. He also admitted discussing Packer play strategy to at least some extent. This was after saying the whole story was complete B.S.

Favre has been considered one of the top sportsmen in professional football history and his actions lately show that his sportsmanship has been overestimated at the least. It doesn't make him a bad QB, it doesn't necessarily make him a bad person. But with due respect to Denny Green, Favre is not who we thought he was.

It won't affect much if anything in the NFL unless there is much more to the story. If what we've heard is all there is, he'll give the aw shucks grin and play dumb and it will eventually be forgotten. He's still a HOF QB both for the NFL and Green Bay.

Actually what he admitted to was discussing the strategy from LAST YEARS game. Considering Favre spent zero time in this years camp and according to many on here the offense was changed and tweaked how much help could he have really been?

Thats not the point. If it was Nall this would be a non story.
