We are scheduled to do a post-OTAs, post-mini-camp podcast on June 30. We hope to get our friend and frequent show contributor Chad Reuter to join us.
Oh boy, Chad Reuter on board. He will have some great insight into the Pack, I have a lot of time for that guy. Well done, guys, for getting him in. I'm hoping that after listening to pod89 I have a better idea about our draft picks, and also some more insight into the evolution of the roster into the final 53.
Here are some questions I don't know the answer to.
Will Daryn Colledge end this season as backup LT/LG, and take over as starting LT once Clifton's career as starter has ended ? A tough question, some think he can handle LT and some think he cannot. Me, I'm hopeful.
Will backups Junius Coston and Tony Moll survive to the final 53 ?. The answer to this revolves around how many O linemen we keep after the final cuts. If we keep 9, then one of Moll or Coston must go (unless Sitton or Giacomini do not survive training camp). Moll probably survives this year because who else would back up Tauscher. Coston probably survives as long as he can play Center well enough behind Wells. He can backup up all three of the interior positions. Giacomini and Sitton may well displace Moll and Coston next year.
Does Aaron Rouse force his way into the starting lineup (and would he replace Atari Bigby, or Nick Collins) ?
How the heck do you choose between FBs Korey Hall, John Kuhn and Ryan Powdrell ? I have no idea who is winning that battle.
Is it time to move on without KGB ? He has a high salary. He is not so young any more (he is only 30, but is undersized, at a very physical position). He has an injury at present, and he was always a liability against the run. However, he was always kept because he can pressure the QB on crucial downs. I think the Pack would rather see larger guys like Jeremy Thompson backing up Cullen Jenkins, and Michael Montgomery backing up Kampman. They are both around 20lbs heavier than KGB, and can hold up better against the run.
Perhaps you guys can come up with answers to some of these questions and others I haven't even thought of, in your next pod.
Keep up the good work.
