Is it just me, or is it hard to get excited about him after Griffith? Sorry to be negative, but, he sort of sounds like the "bottom of the barrel" based on this article.

The free agent barrel is low, we get depth now not starters. The starters are gone.
there are no players in FA I'm excited about either

'The Packers and DT Jimmy Wilkerson are in contract discussions.
Wilkerson, a one-gap inside tackle who can also play end, is deciding between the Chiefs and Green Bay. The 6-2/290-pounder ran a 4.9 at the 2003 Combine and benched 225 29 times but went in the sixth round."

I agree, sounds like nothing more than FA scraps to me. KC just signed DT's Alfonso Boone and Ron Edwards so they don't seem to be as likely to want Wilkerson back. Looks like we are the front runners at this point. He has solid "measureables" but I don't see him as more than a glorified camp body, potential injury replacement or at best a rotational DT in very limited circumstances...

He would add competition to the position, but is likely nothing more than a rotation player IF he he is signed and makes the team.

I will say that Jimmy Wilkerson sounds better to me than Smith from Cleveland who is also discussed in the article. Actually, it was Smith that I was referring to when I wrote my comment... but, I am not all thrilled about Wilkerson either.

SATURDAY, March 17, 2007, 4:16 p.m.

Packers lose bid for free agent

Defensive lineman Jimmy Wilkerson opted to remain with his current team, Kansas City, his agent disclosed on Saturday.

The Green Bay Packers were negotiating Friday with Wilkerson's agent, Joby Branion, but ultimately Wilkerson wanted to remain with the Chiefs and agreed to a one year deal.

"I think there was just a comfort level with the team that he was with," Branion said. "He's good with everybody there. There's nothing he doesn't like about Kansas City."

Wilkerson, 6 foot 3 and 292 pounds, has been a versatile reserve for the Chiefs for four years, playing both end and tackle. Wilkerson started just three of 56 games. He has 86 tackles, one-half sack and 34 quarterback pressures, including 25 in 2005. The Chiefs have also recently signed free agent tackle Alfonso Boone, who had spent six years with Chicago, and re-signed Ron Edwards.

The Packers have acquired one player in the free agency period, cornerback Frank Walker.

Can't really say that I care. Not what you would call an impact player. I'd rather go with the guys we already have. At least there is some more upside with some of the younger players.

I could care less about Wilkerson. What I do care about is that GB can't even get the lower level FA's interested. I know that there are many who disagree with me, but, selling the city, team, franchise, and, plan is part of what TT or his representatives are supposed to do. It is what executives and managers do all the time in the typical busines environment when they are trying to persuade a good fit for the organization to accept a job. And, yes, sometimes it does involve "Dinners and Wine and Special Treatment".

That is what bothers me.

But Moss desperately wants to come here and even restructure his contract and play with Brett Favre right?
You are right Casey on this one I do disagree with you, look at the competition we already have on the line, he had a better shot in KC nothing to do with not wanting to play in GB , if they showed him an offer he could not refuse he could have been persuaded. .
