Green to visit Denver

Halfback Ahman Green is taking a free-agent visit to the Denver Broncos tonight, according to a report in the Denver Post.
The Packers are trying to re-sign Green, who is an unrestricted free agent, and worked well into last night and today as they tried to reach a contract agreement.
However, with free agency opening on Thursday night at 11:01 p.m., Green decided he wanted to test the market to see what his value is and whether the Packers will pay him a comparable contract if it's higher than they've offered already.
The trip does not mean he won't re-sign with the Packers, but it could make his re-signing more difficult.
Denver is looking for a running back after trading starter Tatum Bell to Detroit as part of a deal to acquire cornerback Dre' Bly.
Green is one of the top halfbacks in this year's free-agent market, though his value is diminished somewhat by his age (30) and recent injury history that includes a serious torn quadriceps tendon in 2005.
The Broncos use the same zone-blocking run scheme the Packers used last season.

For the love of God just sign him. He has done alot for this team. Give him his 3 or 4 year deal and make it voidable. Cmon guys.

Careful, now...that almost sounded like a criticism of Ted Thompson.

I would never do that. At least not in public. THEY are listening...

Thats the sad part about this business, look at what Joe Horn has meant to the Saints and the state of Louisiana. I just hope that Ahman knows how much he was appreciated while he was here. The contracts he played for were always below market value for his position. I put him in the same regards as Donald Driver when it comes to putting the team first and not asking for a boat load of money.

Well, I hate to see him shopping around, but we had to anticipate this would happen. This could be the first of several stops for him, really. I would expect that he'd made a trip to New York too...both the Jets and Giants need a RB pretty badly.
I am not so sure Denver won't just come over the top like they have reportedly done with Graham and try and lock up Green before anyone else has a chance to make an offer. (I hope I'm wrong) Denver has to replace Tatum Bell and may want a veteran like Green to help out Cutler especially now that it appears Plummer is retiring. I hope Ahman at least gives TT the chance to match any offer before he signs anywhere.

Yeah, I wouldn't be the least surprised if they did that and he signed with them. I can't wait to see the fall out if that happens..lol Plus, I don't know if they even had a relationship, but him and Walker know each other.. could be a factor.
Denver appears to be pretty serious about upgrading this season.
