GREEN BAY, Wis. -- The Green Bay Packers' proposed $20 million marketing deal for Brett Favre included a merchandise line, autographs, personal appearances and even a blog, according to a report in The Sporting News' online newsletter Friday.

And while Favre turned down the deal in favor of returning to play and was traded to the New York Jets last week, the Packers are expected to offer him a similar agreement once he retires for good.

Hey Larry, offer him double for an exclusive blog and Q&A, for the next 20 yrs on Packer Chatter.......then the subscription revenue from this place could allow you to live in some cushy place like Reno or Tahoe.

Wait...you already do.....never mind.........

Could it be that it's not a bribe, but a genuine interest to create a place for a franchise hero in the organization after all?

I was all for it earlier this summer and I am all for it when he retires.

LOL Something tells me that blog would last about one day.

Brett: "That guy (TT) said we'd get Randy Moss, and well... we didn't ..."

Two seconds later: "This page is no longer available."

Then what was Murphy talking to Cook about for 9 hours in Hattisburg?

The merchandising offer was on the table since he retired Mar 6. The Packers would be smart to jump on this if they can. Once Favre retires all his naming rights are gone. No jerseys, or anything with his name on it can be sold legally without his permission. The Packer pro shop did a lot of business using Favres name over the years. I'm sure Favre understands where his market is. Its a good marriage for both once he retires for good.

Also the Packers Pro Shop could/would charge a fortune for the favre autographs with them being the only ones to get new ones minus any personal apperance autographs and with only him signing 300 things a year I think we would see everyone starting at 500 bucks and going up from there.

Yeah, he could sign Packer hats and polo shirts like the kind he always wore at his post game interviews!

Oh, wait a minute...

We will give you a % of the take, choose your market Brett, Green Bay or New York, how many Jets jerseys you gonna sell after you are gone for 5 years, I think the choice is clear.
