TT spend a second round pick on this CB. Woodson and Harris are one of the top CB tandums in the NFL. I don't know about anyone else but everytime Woodson or Harris limp of the field I hold my breath. Lets look at the depth behind Woodson and Harris.

Frank Williams nice signing but does anyone know what we really have here.

Patrick Dendy will he improve or has he already reached his top potential.

Will Blackmom I was excited when TT drafted him in the fourth round last year. I truly believe he could be a future starting CB for the Pack. Unfortunately he was hurt most of last season. Now I read he was hurt last week in the OTA'S. Blackmon seems to have the injury bug but I like his size speed and potential. I am not ready to give up on him this early.

Now to Oliver. TT spend a second round pick in the supplemental draft on this kid. Oliver will be able to learn from Harris and Woodson. Oliver could contribute immediately in the nickel and dime packages while being groomed to take over a starting spot one day. Good size 6'00 210 and speed 4.35 40 if memory serves me right.

If all the reports are true that Oliver would have been one of the top CB in next years draft he would be a sure fire first round pick. Spend a second on him and let him learn. We know he is already battle tested in the fast SEC conference. With Oliver and Blackmon I believe the starting CB of the future will be on the packs roster.

Happy fathers day to all

By the same token, who would have thought that our first round draft pick would be at what was arguably the deepest position on the team?
Deepest position?? I guess arguably is the key word here.

Lets see.......... our Defensive Tackles prior to Harrell.

Ryan Pickett
Corey Williams
Johnny Jolly
Colin Cole

I see one starter in Pickett and potenical but surely out of the other three no one has stepped up enough to even say they would have started at the other DT this year. The addition of Harrell (If he lives up to the hype) will give us arguably (IMG:http://www.packerchatters.com/4ums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) the best D line we have had since White left.

In my opinion. The D was deeper at LB, DE and CB before the pick. If one of our Safties step up, our defense is complete. Arguably the best D we have had in 10 years.

I don't care what his timed speed is, the guy plays faster than that. I've seen him. He is a Complete Corner. He's physical in man coverage and he's smart enough to play zone (difference between book smarts and football smarts).

He is a stud at CB. He'd be the #2 CB (#1 if he'd had a good senior year) in the '08 draft.

We could definitely use him. I'm hoping we could get him with a 3rd, but that might be unlikely.

Let's look at this in perspective: Oliver had 3 weeks to prepare for this workout. As opposed to everyone who was drafted this past year - they had 6-8 weeks.

Having seen him play for his entire career, I'm pretty confident that he's a great player.

I've been looking all over the internet for video on this guy, but I'm coming up empty. Anyone know where I can find some clips?

The only clips I found of Oliver (#8) are:

3 minute mark of the "lowlight" video below. He got torched for about 50 yds., but slapped ball out at goalline.

and 3:40 & 7:10 of the GT game below:

Calvin was roughly 2 feet OVER Oliver on the TD play, Oliver knocked ball out before CJ touched his feet down. Don't relish the thought of seeing that 2 games/yr. for the next 12 years. NO Thanks.

The words been out on this guy for a while, maybe TT was waiting, maybe not. If he wants him, I am sure he'll make a play for him, but I think the draft looks pretty good for CB next year so if he feels he doesn't fit, there will be others available like that guy from Penn state- Justin King. Supposedly , he is the next Deon/Prime time. I hope he doesn't have his attitude.

I thought the same thing when I read King's stats. However, there is a blurb there that suggests he may be a problem child. I just don't get where these guys get off thinking they can do whatever they want. A stunt like that could end up costing the kid millions if teams pass on him. Stupid move. (IMG:http://www.packerchatters.com/4ums/style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

Having said all that, if TT gets Oliver with a third, I'd be VERY happy with that. Very doubtful we could get a better player in the third next April. TT, go get him! (IMG:http://www.packerchatters.com/4ums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Don't forget that Jenkins, even after he was moved to DE, rotated in as well. We rotate so heavily that our "starter" is a starter in name only. So, we had 5 guys who rotated our two DT spots without a major drop-off. Was there another position on the team with 5 guys who all performed at near the same level?

That's not to say that the DT position was perfect and couldn't be improved or that Harrell won't do just that. But when you have 5 guys who can all step in and play solid ball, that's a deep position.

I really don't know that much about Oliver, but I do agree with those who feel we may need additional talent & depth in the defensive backfield.

My guess is that TT will trade down a few times during the supplemental draft in order to get some extra picks, and then use one of them to take a shot at Oliver if he's still available sometime in the 6th or 7th round.

You're kidding, right? (asks Mr. Gullible). There is no round by round, "on the clock" for the supplemental draft. Put a name and round on the piece of paper (or official email) and that's that. Teams' "order" is determined in the AM, "draft" is done by 1PM or 2PM. If 2 or more teams want a guy in the same round, whichever team has the higher pick-slot gets him. i just dont know if it would be worth it. If he was selected he would take both dendy and bush's spots. Im pretty interested in bush, dendy i could let go :0) but he isnt horrible.

I also dont like that he was like 2 inches smaller then orginally listed and like 15 pounds less also. i would take him in the 7th but he wont last that long.
